A Look at audio books in ‘The Hobbit’, Audio Book- Part I of III

audio books:

This is JRR Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’. A classic on so many levels methinks^_^ This reading of the book by Nicol Williamson is an abridged version, meaning of course that it is not the entire book word for word. Anywho, I put some pictures in with the vid, though they’re not in sync with the story. That’s what your imagination is for.. O_o And if ye’re anything like me, ye’ll know that reading a book like The Hobbit, or LOTR & using your imagination to see the world, to create those memorable feelings, is immeasurably more satisfying than watching any movie. Not dissing the LOTR movies here peoples, I quite enjoy the.. first one, but they’re just movies with no-where near the feeling of the books. That being said, I like perrty pictures too & so I put some in here just because. Suggestion: Forget the pictures, have a quiet room, close yours eyes, sit back & listen. With any luck it’s a rainy day. I always seemed to love reading LOTR & The Hobbit on rainy days..

As long as what you’re loooking is in the public domain, then I’d suggest checking out Librivox. If it’s not in the public domain, their not going to have it.

Strawberry Shaped Book Finally Sells!

I think we have had this book for sale most of the 14+ years we have been selling online. LOL! It is shaped like a giant strawberry! And, it finally sold! Knew it was something special when we listed it… only took a decade or so for some Buyer to agree with us.

When my wife declared that we had an order for it, I remarked that it was in my office here. But, I was wrong… that was the one shaped like a boot! Really, I am tempted to start a category on this blog: Strange Books We Have Sold. And, there has been some doozies, too.

Accents are Fun But Go Deeper Than You Might Think

This is one of my favorite books, Accents: A Manual for Actors- Revised and Expanded Edition, not only does it cover accents for specific countries, but gets into regional dialects. Did you know there are like, at least, 6 in Ireland alone!

I love it, and it is alot of fun to try saying the same thing in different accents. If you are an Actor it is a must!

A Look at richard scarry books in Richard Scarry’s Old MacDonald’s Farm and Other Animal Tales (Part 1)

richard scarry books:

It’s my pleasure to present to you the first Golden Book Video I collected, complete and in high quality, entitled “Richard Scarry’s Old MacDonald’s Farm and Other Animal Tales.” Part 1 covers the story of Old MacDonald’s Farm. Come to the MacDonald Family Reunion and sing along with Ma and Pa and an unforgettable group of kinfolk as they sing the classic song, “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” BTW, the story is not adapted from a Golden Book, and merely reuses illustrations from other Richard Scarry books. A Look at cheap book in Greenville Literacy Association Street Illusions

cheap book:

The Greenville Literacy Association wanted to advertise the 2010 Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale, so to get people’s attention, we did some installations on the streets of Greenville, SC. These illusions feature words that are tough to read unless you can figure out how to decipher the illusions. The illusions make a nice metaphor for the struggle many people experience when trying to read. And the eureka moments of discovery are like what GLA helps its students experience every day. When you support GLA’s Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale, you’re helping 1000′s of Greenville adults learn to read, write and do arithmetic. Come to the sale August 21st from 8:30 to 4:00. Early birds can pay and shop at 7:30. Special thanks to the folks at TPM in Greenville for helping with the graphics. A big thank you to Will Young, Angie Prosser, Mary Douglas Hirsch and John Castile with the City of Greenville for helping make this project happen.
