Due to the popularity of the previous article, MuteMath, here is another recommendation for an album.

It is a group named Kodomo with their concept album, Still Life. I listen to this album all the time when I need to concentrate on work.

The sound is an alternative electronic feel. It is similar to lounge, chill genre music. There is some parallels between Kodomo and Ulrich Schnauss, Air, Moby, etc. It is not jarring or loud, but more than easy listening. Still Life embodies music as a concept art, presenting it to the audience as an idea that is still forming. Kodomo doesn’t hide this fact since they name each song with the standard of “Concept” and then a number. Concept 3 is a particularly good one. Truly a worthwhile and overlooked artist to listen to if you are looking to diversify your musical tastes.

Listening to one of my favorite CD of all time… Burning the Process by Pressure 4-5.

Pressure 4-5 expresses the optimistic, positive, mind-over-matter sides of life with rhythms that range from depressing and melodic heavy metal to upfront rap-metal conquering the negative via uplifting messages.

Hard to find sounds but well worth it when found! I sometimes like hard hitting head banging rock, but dislike the morbid gore and death worshipping crap that so many bands adopt. Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie have some great sounds, but their motif sucks. This band pumps up the energy, but focus on positive uplifting messages, without dripping cliche Jesus Ass Kissing and such that goes too far the other end of the spectrum. Use this link and check it out… you may have just found something you were looking for too!

Okay, recommendation time. As you may already clued in on, we tend to be eclectic, picking the best out of a diverse offering. And, I have come across just such an item. While using the process documented in the post:

How To Make Your Own Custom Best Of CD

I found a group that passed the point of mere single song mp3 download purchase to the album purchase! It is a group named Mutemath

and the album has the same name. Not only have I bought it, but it is listened to regularly and excellent background music while we work.

The sound is reminiscent of Police or Sting with kind of a feeling like ColdPlay (which is a very popular group these days!). It is NOT System Of A Down or some of that attention grabbing music, yet it is more than mere easy listening. There are a few great songs that are only available on the album. I think all the songs are winners, but a few are, hmmm, special. Truly a worthwhile group to check out if you are looking for some new music to listen to.

Recently, I have been buying (yes, buying) mp3 downloads from Amazon.com. As my experience increased, I found myself creating sets of the best and greatest music of those groups I have loved over the last 40 years… and, explored to discover some previously unknown bands! My tastes are ecclectic, which basically means taking the best, but my interests are also broad. From the Zen Relaxation tunes I am currently listening to spanning way over to the Rob Zombie or Rage Against The Machine. More than once, it has occurred to me that others may be interested in my learned techniques.

So, what I intend to do here (this is just a placemarker for now), is to document my process and share some of my finds. If you are new to mp3 downloads off of Amazon.com, you may find it worth your time to read. Thanks! Enjoy!

UPDATE: still planning on doing this… really
